Welcome to the Monash Chinese Island blog!
欢迎您来到澳大利亚蒙纳士大学中国岛的博客!
Chinese Island is an initiative by the Chinese Studies Program at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia designed to compliment traditional classroom-based learning with context-based, hands on learning in the virtual environment of Second Life.
While primarily designed for enrolled Monash University students, all are welcome to visit the island and explore the unique Chinese language and culture learning environment it offers.
The island is a work in progress, so please be sure to come back and see us often as new things are being added all the time.
To get the most out of our island, but sure to click on the ‘Jianghu HUD’ icon on the right hand side at the bottom of any of the pages on this website. This will open an SLURL page which you can use to locate and then ‘wear’ a ‘Jianghu HUD’ as you go around the island.
For Monash students and staff studying Mandarin Chinese at Monash or elsewhere, please check out our Chat Club where you can practice communicating in Mandarin via text chat or voice chat. For details please see the Chat Club page.
Throughout the year there will be a range of other activities happening on the island. Please keep a watch on this blog for further information.
